Grease traps are both awesome and disgusting at the same time. On one instance, they allow cooks to effortlessly push the junk and nasty grease into a little trap and moving it off of the grill and on the other hand they can become quite messy when it comes to clean up time. Grease traps have existed since before restaurants were born because grease becomes very hot and people simply don’t want to deal with having to remove it off of the grill every time they throw down a burger or product.
You need to evaluate what kind of grills you have, what the temperature of the grills are and how hard cleanup will be before you make any kind of decision on getting grease traps. While a lot of grills and products come standard with grease traps now days, some do not and these are all things that need to be considered before you make any purchase decisions for your establishment. Sometimes with some grease traps, cleaning them up is such a hassle that this is only done once a week or some employees blow it off and let the next shift take care of it, cutting down on the next shift’s productivity time.
