It is a true merchandiser freezer, rated -10°F to 5°F rather than the 33°F to 39°F band a glass door refrigerator holds. That range is what allows it to display hard ice cream, novelties, frozen dough and packaged frozen entrées behind glass. A digital temperature control and monitor system keeps the compartment on setpoint and shows the reading on a display, so staff can check it without opening the door and warming the load.

Blue Air rates the BGF23B-HC at 23 cu. ft., carried on four adjustable white epoxy coated wire shelves with trim inside an 84" tall cabinet that is only 27" across the front. The shelves ride on adjustable supports so spacing can follow whatever the frozen set actually looks like — pint cartons, boxed meals or bagged product — and additional shelves can be ordered from Blue Air.

A standard 115V/60Hz single-phase outlet. The single 1/2 HP bottom-mounted compressor draws 9 amps, and the cabinet arrives with a 9.8 ft (3 m) flexible three-wire cord and a molded NEMA 5-15P plug already fitted. That is a meaningful advantage over multi-door merchandiser freezers in the same family, which pull enough current to require a dedicated higher-capacity circuit.

Blue Air lists a left hinged door as a factory option on this model, so the hinge side has to be specified when the unit is ordered rather than changed on site. Decide the swing based on which way customers approach the cabinet and what sits beside it — a door that opens into an adjacent fixture or a wall will slow down both shoppers and restocking.

Height is the number to check. On its standard 4" swivel casters the BGF23B-HC stands 84" tall, above a typical 80" door frame, while width is only 27" and depth 31-1/2". Net weight is 285 lbs and shipping weight 320 lbs, light enough for two people once it is off the truck. If finished height is a problem, 2.5" casters and 6" adjustable legs are available options.

The self-contained system is bottom mounted on a front sliding refrigeration unit, so the deck pulls straight forward for coil cleaning and service without dragging the cabinet out of a 27" slot or breaking the fixture line. A bottom-mounted condensation pan is designed to prevent water overflow while improving ventilation, and four 4" swivel casters with brakes on the front pair let you roll the box out when the floor behind it needs attention.
